Nature compensation

A new form or contribution benefitting nature and wildlife

Have you decided to hold an ecological event? Would you like to go one step further and make a symbolic contribution to the environmental footprint created by your event?

The Fondation de la faune du Québec proposes an original and efficient form of compensation: a donation for the conservation of natural habitats and wildlife in Québec.

Your donation will be invested in one of our many wildlife habitat protection or development projects. Since the Fondation supports projects in all regions of Québec, we will be able to match your donation with one of these projects (see How it works).

How it works ?

Our wildlife needs help

Many species of wildlife have seen their living environment or habitat deteriorate or shrink because of human activity: urban, industrial and farming development, maritime and land transportation routes, exploitation of natural resources (energy, forests, mines, etc.). Your donation will contribute to protecting our wildlife heritage.

Our mission
For over 20 years, the Fondation de la faune du Québec has worked at protecting and developing our wildlife and wildlife habitats.

The Fondation de la faune is the most active conservation organization in Québec, with more than 5,000 projects completed since 1987.

Support for local initiatives
The Fondation financially supports hundreds of organizations initiating concrete projects to help wildlife and wildlife habitats.

The Fondation is interested in all wildlife species in Québec, from birds and mammals to fish, amphibians and reptiles, whether they are threatened species or not. The Fondation is active across Québec and in all life environments from aquatic milieus and wetlands to riparian and land-based habitats.

How it works

Organizing your event:
  • Eco-consultants from the specialized Tact-étik firm can help you organize a responsible event and publicize your accomplishments among partners and participants.
  • The portal of the Ecological Event team will also provide references for the organization of your ecological event.

Calculating the symbolic contribution:
  • Participants from Québec (provincial) : $1.25 / participant;
  • Participants from elsewhere in Canada or foreign nationals: $6.00 / participant.

Using the donation:
  • Upon receipt of your donation, the Fondation de la faune du Québec will identify a wildlife project in the region where your event has taken place and associate your contribution with the project.

What’s in it for you?
  • A certificate will be issued attesting that your organization has paid compensation to the Fondation de la faune based on the above calculation.
  • The Fondation will issue tax receipts to the donor.
  • Your name will be published in the list of event or travel organizers having paid compensation to the Fondation de la faune du Québec.
  • Nature compensation will be used by a credible and recognized organization achieving projects in Québec.
  • It is important to heighten the awareness of participants regarding positive ecological measures adopted by you. The Fondation can help you publicize your initiative (use of its logo, information on projects, etc.).

Lend nature a helping hand by compensating for the environmental footprint left by your event through a donation to the Fondation de la faune du Québec!
