Arctic Fox by Michel Lamarche (2003)

Arctic Fox by Michel Lamarche (2003)

Born in Brossard in 1967, Michel is a young, self-taught wildlife artist. Through his work, this avid nature lover helps us discover wildlife species in Quebec considered among the most remarkable in the world.

He learned the rudiments of art in high school. Despite clearly evident talent, he ignored the field for several years, concentrating instead on baseball, in which he saw a promising future. He was first drafted by the Chicago Cubs and later played with the Philadelphia Phillies farm club. Unfortunately, surgery on an arm completely eradicated any chance of a professional career.

Michel Lamarche painted his first wildlife painting in 1987. Since then, he has developed his own technique and relies on the inspiration provided by photography and personal observation during tours of some of the most untamed parts of our country.

Winner of the Prix du public award on several occasions during exhibits, his work may be found in several private collections. One of his paintings is replicated on the signature logo of a microbrewery in Quebec.
